SENS TALK Q&A #2: Tyler Beauchesne (Again)
Hey everyone, it’s me again. As the regular season comes to a close, I wanted to run another Q&A again because I like doing fan engagement content. I like talking with you all; it is a lot of fun, and I get to give my opinions on this team and many other topics. So let’s get into it:
Zachinho asks: Live reaction to the Demidov goal?
I like him, but I hate who he plays for. It was a beautiful goal, and I expect him to become a franchise talent for the Habs. His offensive game is very complete, but he needs to work on the backchecking and defense, however. Other than that, I have rated his abilities even before the Habs drafted him. He will be a threat for years to come!
Sens Galaxy Brain asks: Are the Bruins okay?
Probably not haha. They are in for a bit of a retool at the moment as they lost a lot of players from that historic President’s Trophy-winning team. It will not be a full rebuild because they still have David Pastrnak, Jeremy Swayman, and Charlie MacAvoy. They just need to fill the gaps; however, keeping Don Sweeney and Cam Neely is puzzling. I just do not understand how they are still there after all this time, when they need new faces to lead this retool. They will be fine eventually, like all teams go through.
Kaz asks: If you didn’t go into journalism, what other careers would you have gone into?
Great question! I think if journalism does not work out, then I would want to be a teacher. Who knows, there could be a universe out there where I can do both. I like helping people, and I feel that I can effectively teach others and help them do or learn something new. So yeah, I would choose education if this does not pan out.
Timster_17 asks: What do you think Yakemchuk's ceiling/floor is, and what role do you see him playing next year?
The Yak Attack is a beauty for sure. I view his floor as a solid second-pairing defender who can get 30-40 points a year. However, if he is used properly, he could be an elite 60-70 point offensive defender, which would be awesome. As for his role next year, he gets second-pairing minutes and PP2 at the most. His best fit is with Sanderson, I hope his defense will improve at the NHL level.
Lord Daddy asks: Why doesn't Sparty have ears?
I have done this Q&A twice now, and if I told you I got this exact question twice, would you believe me? I love it, so I will answer again. I do not remember my answer from the last one to this question, but yes, Sparty having no ears was a bit of a design flaw. However, if you want the cooler answer, it is because he got rid of them. He did this because he refuses to listen to the haters and you should not listen to them as well. It may not be the truth, but it is my truth. I think that is beautiful so I will accept it as fact.
TallDwarf28452 asks: What are your thoughts if Travis Hamonic plays in game 1 of the playoffs?
I refuse to accept this reality heading into the playoffs. Travis Hamonic deserves respect for having 900 games played in the NHL as that is a hard feat for most players to accomplish. I am glad he will hit that milestone in the regular season. However, there is no reason he should enter the lineup unless it is necessary come game 1. The game has left him as he is not NHL quality anymore and his play brings down this team. Great locker room guy but it’s time for him to stay benched when it matters.
Slategr3y asks: Can you say something about the preds just for me? What is your hottest take about them?
Sure thing, my hottest take about the Predators is (don’t hate me, I got nothing against your team) the Predators should have started their rebuild this offseason. Do not throw the tomatoes yet let me explain. The issue with Barry Trotz’ roster construction is that he had the Yzerman mentality, where the team got older instead of truly better. He got name-brand players like Stamkos, who were slowly fading from their prime. He also got guys who benefited from the systems they played in, like Marchessault (Can say this about most players who leave the Vegas system). I think Nashville should sell off at the next deadline for picks and young players so they can build a better team for the future.
xbytheknifex says: Realistically, if the Sens have a healthy team and we continue to play like we have, what do you predict the outcome in the playoffs is?
Realstically, we could win a round in my mind. Any outcome is truly going to be okay to me but I think we can make it to a second round playing the way that we are. This is an experience year but we can do some real damage in the playoffs with the type of hungry hockey this team loves to play.
Trent Raynard asks: What are the top 3 Senators playoff performances all time?
2017 will only be topped by a cup win for me, Erik Karlsson’s performance was legendary. I still remember the end-to-end pass to Hoffman and the fact he got Conn Smythe votes despite not making the finals. 2007 is only second as my memory of that is cloudy but the Pizza Line is a top-five offensive line in my lifetime and they dominated throughout that run. 2013 is my last one as we beat the Habs and I think any run where we do that is amazing.
EtienneParent07 asks: ARE WE BACK???
Yeah we are so back, I love the Ottawa Senators!!!!!!
Habby3194 asks: I didn’t know you were Ben Affleck?
Surprise! I am in fact Ben Affleck, just do not fact check that statement in any way because believing it is more fun.
D asked: Am I going to see Tyler at tomorrow's game or any playoff games?
I am going to the game against the Canes as it is the last regular season game and it is on my birthday so I am there for vibes. As for playoffs, if I can get tickets then I will go but that will be tough to obtain given the circumstances. Will be at Sens Mile however, so I will still have a lot of fun!
Thank you so much for the questions once again, I had a blast answering them. I always enjoy talking to you all and I am super excited for the playoffs just like the rest of you. I said from the beginning we would get to this point and my faith has been rewarded. The battle of Ontario will be reignited and we will hate the Leafs again just as nature intended. See you at the first game and GO SENS GO!
